Code 3 for the shooting.
We arrive at the same time as the police. Apparently a mother and her two children were driving somewhere and someone shot at them for no apparent reason, hitting both children. She drove up to some random house to get help. Now the 11-year-old girl is sitting on the front steps with a gunshot wound to her chest, crying and screaming, and demanding that we take care of her brother first.
Her 7-year-old brother is in the living room on the couch with gunshot wounds to his neck and back. Somewhere in the mix, shuttling back and forth, as we package the children for transport, is their mother, completely beside herself. As he is loaded into the ambulance, all he wants to know was not where his mother is, but how his sister is doing.
At least some good shines through the evil that causes someone to shoot at children.
