I’m driving with full wail with my earplugs on, as always. Dispatch says something and I answer.
“Wow, your hearing is really good. You heard all that with your earplugs on? I didn’t really hear what she said.”
By this point in the shift I have already noticed that my partner for the day doesn’t hear that well.
“Yeah, this is why I wear it. I don’t want to lose any more hearing than I can avoid.”
“I guess the sirens don’t really bother me.”
She hasn’t even worked a year.
“I don’t think that’s really a good thing.”
